Sr. Performance Engineer

SENIOR/LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER – PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
 
  • Work with product owners and other development team members to determine new features and user stories needed in new/revised applications or large/complex development projects.
  • Create or Update documentation in support of development efforts. Documents may include detailed specifications, implementation guides, architecture diagrams or design documents.
  • Participate in code reviews with peers and managers to ensure that each increment adheres to original vision as described in the user story and all standard resource libraries and architecture patterns as appropriate.
  • Respond to trouble/support calls for applications in production in order to make quick repair to keep application in production.
  • Serve as a technical lead for an Agile team and actively participate in all Agile ceremonies. Participate in all team ceremonies including planning, grooming, product demonstration and team retrospectives.
  • Mentor less experienced technical staff; may use high end development tools to assist or facilitate development process.
  • Leverage DevOps tool stack to build, inspect, deploy, test and promote new or updated features.
  • Set up and configure a continuous integration environment.
 
EDUCATION
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline desired
 
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
 
  • 4+ years of related experience required
  • 5-7+ years of related experience desired
 
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
 
  • Strong programming skills in Java (preferred), C/C++, and/or Python
  • Advanced proficiency in Object Oriented Design (OOD) and analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in application of analysis/design engineering functions
  • Advanced proficiency in application of non-functional software qualities such as resiliency, maintainability, etc.
  • Advanced proficiency in advanced behavior-driven testing techniques
  • Proven experience in Performance Engineering practices to include code review, profiling application code, and optimization
  • Proven experience in Performance Testing of Web 2.0, AJAX, SOA/WS, and Java/JEE based applications
  • Expert skills in performance tools such as LoadRunner, Performance Center, JMeter, Grinder
  • Ability to create test plans, strategy, cases specification, scripts, scenarios, and results report documentation
  • Ability to create & analyze monitored data, such as APM dashboards, to document testing results and perform diagnostics of application performance
  • Expert system and application monitoring skills
  • Advanced proficiency in unit testing
    Experience leading automation projects
  • Strong scripting skills in Perl, Bash, etc.
  • Strong RDBMS/SQL skills
    Strong knowledge of Solaris or Linux operating systems
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts and understanding of TCP/IP protocols
  • Previous experience with Amazon Web Services and associated functionality is desired
  • Creative, self-motivated, and able to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong technical writing as well as strong verbal and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-player attitude
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies such as SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, etc.
