Required Skills/Position Accountabilities:
Support production of custom publishing and native advertising materials.
Develop concepts and design of ebooks, whitepapers, and sponsored content
articles. Assist in production of sponsored content articles as needed in CEN’s
production system.
Assist in layout and production of printed conference show dailies and guides,
including layout and production of article pages, covers, and ad pages.
Assist in processing artwork for C&EN and C&EN BrandLab as needed. Assist in
preparing and repurposing images, graphics, and ad materials for web, mobile,
and social media presentations.
Support print production, including managing ads for weekly issue and creating
ad layouts for full-page ads and placement of partial ads in C&EN’s production
system. Supply ad pages with metadata to ensure correct output to all print and
digital channels. Work with C&EN’s Sales & Marketing team to troubleshoot and
remedy ad PDFs that contain preflight errors.
Handle layout and image processing of C&EN’s monthly product showcase page,
sending proofs of showcase ads to C&EN’s Sales & Marketing team and making
changes to ads.
Assist in layout and production of ACS News pages for C&EN, including ACS
meetings program pages, ACS president candidate’s statements, and other ACS
News pages as needed. Assist in layout of pages within other sections of C&EN
as needed.
Create classifieds display and line ads, including sending proofs to C&EN’s Sales
& Marketing team and making changes to ads. Produce Classified ad
(C&ENjobs) pages in Adobe InDesign and C&EN’s production system.
Work well across teams of production professionals, including those responsible
for editing, design, and web production, and according to defined schedules.
The position may also troubleshoot and test files for online publishing, edit
audio/video/multimedia files, and format PDFs for electronic and hardcopy
reprints.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of equivalent experience or formal training; knowledge
and experience in digital and print publishing workflows and technologies; Adobe
Creative Cloud; Mac and Windows OS; Microsoft Office; experience with K4, AEM, a
plus. The successful candidate will be highly organized and able to adhere to tight
production schedules where quality, speed, and efficiency are critical. The successful
candidate will be an effective communicator, as well as capable of multitasking and
juggling priorities.
