Employee Relations Specialist

New York, NY
Working within the Global ER team, you will be responsible for providing professional driven advice and support on all aspects of employee relations, including workplace investigations, reviews of HR policies and procedure, performance and capability management and disciplinary and grievance issues. Additional responsibilities will include:
  • Advise line managers (formally and informally) on ER issues
  • Keep current with changes to legislation and communicating and implementing these changes across the business
  • Being familiar with US employment laws
  • Performance management coaching to employees and managers
  • Advising on disciplinary and grievance issues to hearing and appeal stages
  • Working in partnership with the with field based HR teams and management, providing expert employee relations support on the provision of legal updates
  • Advising the business on change programmes (Mergers/TUPE/redundancies)
  • Advising managers on HR policies and procedures
  • Implementing new ideas (working on new policy and procedure roll-outs)
  • Supporting project work on an ad hoc basis
  • Utilise HR Acuity to develop, analyze and report on metrics related to employee relations functions; case statistics, including preparing quarterly trends by business unit.
 
Profile
  • Strong working knowledge of US employment legislation
  • Some knowledge and labour experience with working councils especially in France would be helpful
  • Building effective relationships across the business and Human Resources to promote positive and fair employee relations across the organisation
  • Working closely with the in-house legal team to ensure that all cases are handled efficiently and commercially
  • Commercially advising line managers (formally and informally) on ER issues
  • Performance and Capability management
  • Advising on disciplinary and grievance issues to hearing and appeal stages
  • Advising the business on change programmes (Mergers/TUPE/redundancies)
  • Advising on, reviewing and drafting  HR policies and procedures
  • Liaising with external bodies and remaining current in market trends
 
About you...
 
The ideal Americas Employee Relations Specialist will display the following skills and attributes:
  • Strong demonstrable ER exposure (full life cycle)
  • CIPD qualification ideal, but not essential
  • Willingness to take ownership and be accountable for case work
  • Ability to work well under pressure, voice opinions and suggestions on best practice in a logical and reasonable manner.
  • Strong eye for detail
  • Experience of HR systems
  • Sound judgement and decision making qualities
  • Must have the ability to operate with the utmost discretion, integrity and confidentiality
  • Demonstrate the ability to navigate successfully within ambiguity, multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, preferably in a high growth technology company.
  • Ability to make decisions guided by policies, practices, procedures and business plan
  • Ability to travel on occasion
