Senior Oracle DBA

TalEx is partnering with a technology company to identify a Principal Oracle DBA.   This is a Direct Hire role located in McLean, VA. 

Primary Purpose Of The Position
As a senior member of DBA team, candidate’s responsibility will be to lead and perform technical functions required to ensure efficient, reliable operation of our client's database environment(s) and ensure protection and availability of managed data to support our 24x7 operational and business systems. In addition to support day-to-day operations, candidate will engineer solutions for our complex environment.
 
Critical Responsibilities
Participate in designing, planning, implementing and administering of Oracle/MS SQL databases at all levels.
Proactively monitor and optimize system performance using tuning, optimization, AWR, ASH, and other methods.
Maintain database integrity, availability, and restorability
Provide on-call support on a rotating basis.
Design and architect database solutions to support complex systems.
Develop data models and perform planning of architecture, functions, modules, recovery, standards and implementation.
Design Logical / Physical Database Structure Layouts.
 
Important Responsibilities
Develop database standards, guidelines and best practices
Perform capacity planning: develop and implement solutions for database sizing/capacity, server requirements and space requirements
Work in a team environment by providing training and ongoing support of these processes/ procedures and help to build the knowledge of less senior DBAs
Evaluate and research new database features, version and technologies
Maintain currency with new release of Oracle/MS SQL, including compatibility issues with operating systems, third party software and utilities.
Lead and contribute to design discussions in a cross-functional project setting.
Strong written, verbal communication skills.
Script and/or automate common repeatable tasks across.
 
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Bachelors degree, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
7+ years of Oracle Database Administration,10 years preferred.
5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server Administration
Proficient with Oracle’s streams and Golden Gate software.
Strong experience with SQL and demonstrated ability to develop, validate and tune complex queries.
Strong experience with Partitioning,
Proficiency with PL/SQL and TSQL.
Must have extensive experience in installation, configuration, upgrading and patching of Oracle server software and MS SQL.
Must have knowledge of Linux and shell scripting.
Experience working with MS SQL replication.
Working experience with OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager).
