TalEx is partnering with a client in Tyson's Corner, VA  to identify a Production Support Engineer to join their team of engineers for supporting solutions built using open source technologies. Principal duties will focus on solving challenging issues for highly visible and critical applications.
 
Critical Responsibilities

• Investigate and identify root cause for software and environmental  issues and provide recommendations for a solution. 
• Evaluate systems and application performance issues and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Automate operational tasks. Identify and contribute to automation activities. Implement automation that will support regular operational activities -- patching, health checks, application operational tasks.
• Continuous monitoring of production environment and its dependencies for health, performance, security and uptime.
• Manage and support Change/Release management for Application.
• Provide 24x7 On-Call Support on a rotational basis.

 
Important Responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain software in test and production environments.
• Collaborate with other IT teams on enterprise-wide projects
• Document and transfer knowledge, and develop capabilities of production support team
• Interface with software development teams to get in depth understanding of the software architecture/design.

 
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Must have strong Linux skills.
• Must be able to scripting in Bash.
• Experience with JBoss Fuse or knowledge of ESB technology a plus.
• Experience with message broker technologies, preferably RabbitMQ a plus.
• Hands on experience with central logging and search systems, specifically the ELK stack a plus.
• Understanding of internet technologies such as TCP/IP, HTTP, JSON, XML and RESTful Web Services highly desirable.
• Understanding of containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Hands-on experience with MySQL a plus.
