About the Job: This hands-on role is responsible for driving audience, engagement and traffic for all verticals across existing and emerging social platforms, and for creating topical, shareable original content.
Responsibilities & Minimum Qualifications:
Optimize and source new content for MAKERS social platforms (for FB, IG, TW, LI, TT)
Help plan social content based on news cycle, trending stories and evergreen content, aligning with MAKERS overall strategy
Find articles to post (for FB, IG, TW, LI, TT), keeping in mind each platform’s unique audience and the type of content each one most responds to.
Work closely with Community Manager, Video Editors, Chief of Content to brainstorm new video ideas for upcoming social campaigns.
Utilize scheduling & monitoring Platforms: CrowdTangle, Social Flow, scheduling natively on channels, Twitter Media Studio, etc.
Source content across platforms from Yahoo Lifestyle Yahoo Sports and DE&I hubs: SOMOS, Native, Elevasian, BOLD, Prism, Neurodiversity stories that aligns with MAKERS editorial voice; monitor Yahoo Lifestyle to post MAKERS Stories when live.
Take initiative to jump into key moments/conversations online.
Use analytics to understand content performance and use that to guide future social approach.
Works with other MAKERS teams to identify, source, and request new MAKERS ‘social clips’ and videos from existing MAKERS interviews
Active community engagement: engage/respond to comments and direct messages.
Connect with the MAKERS partners and Board Members to crosspost and promote each other's content, do social media takeovers, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of three years of experience as a social media editor or similar.
Good knowledge of social scheduling and analytics tools such as Hootsuite, Google Analytics, and Buffer.
Familiarity with all major social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat, and YouTube.
Strong design knowledge and proficiency in design tools such as Photoshop is advantageous.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly engaging, versatile, and adaptable.
The ability to keep up with industry trends and new social networks.
Must be tech-savvy / able to make minor photoshop/video edits if needed.
Audience engagement experience is a must.
Video Production experience a plus, able to creatively conceptualize series ideas and work with editor to execute.
